As the Lead Instructional Designer at the Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics, and Computing (CEISMC), I work with the content developers on the design and development of all Race to the Top (RT3) online courses. By the end of March 2014, I have led the instructional design of all seventeen teacher professional development (PD) online courses and three student online courses.
In order to address the challenge of minimum facilitation for the courses, we implemented a great variety of multimedia at the advanced level, including instant feedback on quizzes, interactive simulations, animation, video, voice-overs, and content branching. Tools we use include Adobe Captivate, Softchalk, Rapitivity, Google Forms, Google Sites, Mindmeister, Final Cut Pro, and SugarSync. In order to ensure the success on the project level, working with my team, I created the CEISMC RT3 Online Course Standards and Style Guide and enforced its implementation.
In addition, I have conducted research and workshops based on the RT3 online course development. Some of the research results were presented at the 2012 International Annual Conference Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education and 2013 International Annual Conference of Association for Educational Communications and Technology.
